BLAZE by Safaricom this time landed in Machakos County, the place to be indeed. Despite the mad and the rains, the queue at the Machakos stadium gates were interminable. All the motivators, hot musicians, artists and stars were headed there.
By noon, the extravaganza had started with Mwalimu Racheal electrifying the crowd. Hold up, we don’t mean KPLC was involved, it’s just that her radiance was felt by the crowd as she F-emceed. Timmy Tdat was also there as the co-MC of the event. I swear those two sure do know how to get a crowd turnt up with their jokes and extra personalities.
BLAZE-rs took up the *555# challenge by accessing awesome bundle deals and enrolling as blazers. Needless to say that some lucky winners got themselves awarded with credit just for knowing how to be BLAZE-r. Not to mention the SHAKE mechanic of receiving goodies once you literally shake your phone after downloading the Safaricom application.
The MCs started off by inviting peeps to dance. Moves galore! There was some fly chic with beautiful braids that shook what her mama gave her really well. She left our jaw on the ground. The dudes weren’t left behind either, with two guys doing their thing. All the participating dancers also won Blaze Network airtime. We all wanted what they were getting. With BLAZE you can spend more hours surfing and SMS-ing. Should I give you my IG handle guys since we are all on Blaze? I need those likes and follows.
We also had dancers from Machakos-Legacy.You need to check out our IG handle (@TheInsyder) to see if you can steal any moves. Seriously!
Frasha, of the P-Unit group, was there. He happens to be the MCA. Ain’t that awesome? Others mentors from different industries also stepped up on the stage to give their tips on what made them who they are. Patricia Kihoro,a radio presenter and musician also gave tips on how to be confident. Best tip? Believe in yourself! You have it in you to be a star! For those who love photography, Lyra Aoko was there. She is only 25years but her photography is just unmatched. Her work is on top. She talked of her journey to how she got there. It starts where you are. Greatness just need determination.
Mr. Wanyama from Matatu Culture who showed up with a BLAZE graffiti-pained mat made us love the Matatu culture more and more. Others are comedians MCA Tricky and Njugush. I can’t even begin to describe how funny MCA Tricky was. I’m not a joker, but I laughed so hard when he spoke, followed by Njugush. Director Abel Mutua and many more also gave a piece of advice here and there to the BLAZE-rs.BLAZE is truly all about empowering people and showing then they can make.
I spend almost half a day on social media. Imagine if I got rewarded for that? We had someone winning a phone, right there on stage for just tweeting using the hashtag #BYOBMachakos.
The three winners from the first BYOB TV show were there. Valentine, David and “Safe Joe” told how far they’ve come. Valentine had G.R.I.T. Winning 5milli at only age 19 is no joke! Do you have G.R.I.T? Do you know BLAZE NETWORK by Safaricom can empower to reach for the stars?
The better part of the day was the electrifying performances by big Kenyan artists such as Nyashinki who got the ladies crying over Malaika. Femi One also hit the stage and her performance got the crowd moving with her indefatigable back up dancers. She was joined on stage by King Kaka and Timmy Tdat.
King kaka also had the pleasure of introducing Arrow Boy, creating an undeniably enthusiastic duo. In the middle of Kaka’s performance was a fan who caught his attention by raising a drawing of him from the crowd. He is definitely in a good pace right now as he was called on stage and asked to keep in touch. Khaligraph Jones a.k.a Papa Jones also got the crowd rapping along to ‘Nataka Hio Doh’ among many of his hit songs.
The next lucky county is Mombasa. It will definitely be a heated up one! Literally.
