Chelsea have reacted quite fast on the dawn of Courtois exit to Real Madrid by signing yet another record breaking fee for Kepa. Chelsea have paid a world-record $92 million to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic club as a successor for Thibaut Courtois who is leaving for Real Madrid. This new fee breaks the previous goalkeeper transfer record set by Liverpool as they purchased Alisson Becker from Roma in July. Kepa has signed a seven year deal with the club.
The deal also includes a swap deal for Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid who really impressed at the world cup. The deal also includes a $40 million payout. The Belgian player is set to reunite with his family which is based in Spain. Courtois had really wanted the move going as far as skipping training. But now that Chelsea have found a replacement for the player, it seems very likely that the club will be back on form this season.
