Eighteen students from both Aquinas Boys’ and Huruma Girls’ schools in Nairobi have been arrested for questioning over plans to burn their institutions.

Incidents of torching schools have been rampant as most blame it on panic of students ahead of exams. Security was beefed up at the institutions amid interrogation of suspects.

Nguviu Boys’ High School in Embu are following suit in  the arrest following plans to torch the school. On Monday night, two dormitories were torched at the school as students protested against long night study hours and the transfer of the principal.

The incident left more than 200 students with nowhere to sleep.

The Insyder Qru tried to contact teachers at Huruma Girls and Aquinas but the calls went answered.
