Coca-Cola promised a lot of fun and excitement for the second season of Coke Studio Africa. It premiered last night to a great crowd and an even greater reception. The performances were super awesome, and the remix-es were off the hook! The promise of a surprise DJ did not disappoint either, here’s a sneak peek:
Although it seems all fun and games, the artists have to put in a lot of work to have exceptional performances. Here is a bit on Omawumi & Jose Valdemiro’s preparation.
Coke studio is all about creating new sounds, re-creating award winning songs into something spectacular. Producer Silvastone works on Navio’s brand new track “Something About You” to give it some new sound, after which Navio (Uganda) and Waje (Nigeria) have to collaborate and perform it together.
Coke studio brings people together, in this episode, East meets West on the platform. Olamide (Nigeria) pairs up with Fena (Kenya) to do a fusion of Olamide’s 2013 hit “Turn Up”. This is the song which put him in the spotlight.
Flavour (Nigeria) and Victoria Kimani (Kenya) with a fusion of Flavour’s 2013 smashing hit “Ada Ada”. The song is a multi-award winner at the Nigerian Music Awards. According to Flavour, the song serves as a theme song to every African traditional wedding, and brings out the beauty of the African woman.
