Ral madrid and Portugal’s talisman Cristiano Ronaldo won the top footballing award Ballon d’Or for the fourth time. In a night where the Uefa champions league draw had happened earlier, a delighted Ronaldo beat arch-rival Lionel Messi and Athletico Madrid star Antoinne Griezzman.
173 journalists from separate countries were asked to nominate three players and each first choice player was awarded five points, second choice three points and the third one a point upon nomination. Christiano Ronaldo garnered a total of 745 points, with Lionel Messi coming second with 316 votes.
The Portugal skipper who led Real Madrid to it’s ten Champions league victory last season and his team to continental glory now is one award away from being at par with Argentine Lionel Messi. He took to his instagram handle to express his delight at being voted the best.
