Last year during the No Shave November challenge which made waves on social media it shed the spotlight on bearded men to an extent where there was need to decode certain myths surrounding the beard matter. Women have always claimed to be more attracted to men with beards however when asked to give substantial reasons, the responses are often very funny and vague. One of the latest was that the more bearded a man is, the more sex he has or rather the more sex drive he has. But is it true or just a myth?
Pogonologists have different theories regarding the relationship between sex and beard growth (Pogonologists are those who study beards). However the most substantial one was how increased levels of physical activity cause an increase in testosterone levels. Testosterone is the hormone responsible for beard growth in men. It is produced more when there is vigorous physical body activity but that doesn’t mean you can simply go jogging and get more beards instantly haha…
When the testosterone is released, it’s distributed all over the body and eventually on to the hair follicles which will perceive the message to grow at a faster rate. Pogonologists have conducted studies that seem to prove that there is a very significant boost in the production of testosterone immediately after intense sexual activity. And funny enough, even the anticipation of sex alone can increase your testosterone levels greatly.
However this does not mean that the no beard gang have a low sex drive or engage in less sex since everyone’s testosterones react uniquely according to their individual biological features.
Just to be clear, having sex isn’t the only way a man can boost his beard growth, any other increased physical activity can really come in hand. Engaging in various exercises and going to the gym could also be a plus for your facial hair growth. However if you are too lazy for that, you can as well bang your way to a better beard.
