I was randomly browsing when I came across this song. Being recorded by triple threat divas, it automatically registered to mind that this song would blow my mind. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The song Holy Trinity was released on 1st February 2015 and considering that by now it still hasn’t hit the Kenyan radio hit list, tells so much. The track was recorded by an excellent trio; Beyoncé, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. From past collaborations done by Beyoncé and Nicki; awesome productions have been made. Say for example, ‘Flawless’ and ‘Feeling Myself,’ (which now has a tease video released on Tidal). Having a big shot, Rihanna, joining the two hit makers should only add spice to the ‘already awesome song.’
This article is however a review showing how dissatisfied I am in wasting my 3.7 mbs on downloading the song.
On to matters that actually matter, so the name of the song ‘Holy Trinity’ was also eye candy that caused suspicion on my part. Is it that the three know how influential they are in the industry and therefore decided to come up with such a controversial title?
Listening to the song and carefully going through the lyrics, the song is more of love. Not that I despise love songs, no! Don’t get me wrong. Maybe there’s just something wrong with the genre of the song. I expected something hip hop related. Plus, the message has nothing at all to do with the name of the song; which just gets me all the more confused.
Should the three just stick to releasing songs separately? No! Bey and Nicki are a fresh-all-day duo. It is Rihanna’s intrusion I’m a little concerned about. Maybe it was just destine-bound that Rihanna and Beyoncé should not do a song together considering their song ‘Girl Power’; which is also not as commendable. This just leaves me all together worried about the album they plan on release together as a trio anytime this year. But anyway, let’s just keep calm and wait for it.
Seems also that I was not the only one disappointed; a comment on you tube by the audio uploaded by SolarMusic from a user named ‘princessmermaid23’ said, “For so many years i have been waiting for Rihanna, Beyoncé & Nicki to make a song together and they bring this foolishness to my ears. I’m so disappointed. When i got told about this song i was so happy but then only to be disappointed in this. & I’m so shocked Nicki and Beyoncé would even sing a song like this. I was expecting some hip hop, rapping not this something more upbeat and I’m listening to this. Ughh” Guess she has spoken for me and the entire fraternity of persons that sail in the same boat of our feelings.
