Boniface Mucheru Tumuti achieved a rare feat for our nation by earning Kenya a medal in the 400m hurdles, our first one in this event.
Tumuti went into the race as an underdog, but even the commentators knew that he was one to watch; however, no one anticipated Kenya getting a medal in this event, let alone a Silver.
His compatriot Haron Koech started very strongly and appeared set to finish ahead of him, but Boniface put up a very brave display. Disregarding his underdog status, the 24 year old went head to head with favorites Clement (the winner), Barr and Whyte and pushed Kerron Clement to the limit for his Gold medal. It may have been a Silver but a Silver earned in the best way possible.
Congratulations to Team Kenya!
